About the Role

Wonderist Agency is seeking a Senior SEO Specialist to manage and optimize a diverse portfolio of client accounts in their fast-paced, high-growth San Diego office environment. This role goes beyond day-to-day SEO implementation—you'll own complex client scenarios, develop strategic recommendations, and help scale SEO delivery across hundreds of dental industry clients. The ideal Senior SEO Specialist thrives in an agency setting, combines technical expertise with strong communication skills, and is ready to lead junior team members while collaborating cross-functionally to drive measurable organic search performance. This hybrid position (two days in-office per week) offers autonomy, growth opportunities, and the chance to make a real impact on client success.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute scalable, results-driven SEO strategies across a diverse portfolio of dental clients, combining technical SEO, content strategy, local optimization, and off-page tactics
• Serve as the primary SEO expert for assigned accounts, leading client communications via email and calls to discuss performance, recommendations, strategy, and escalations
• Manage and collaborate with external SEO vendors and partners, providing feedback, aligning deliverables with internal standards, and identifying process improvements
• Lead and mentor junior SEO specialists by reviewing their work, sharing best practices, and supporting their professional development
• Monitor and analyze organic search performance across the client portfolio, troubleshoot ranking challenges, and stay agile as industry trends evolve
• Work cross-functionally with web design, content, paid media, and external partners to deliver cohesive, measurable outcomes
• Collaborate with the SEO Team Lead to identify scaling opportunities and contribute to process improvements that support agency growth

Requirements

• Proven experience as an SEO Specialist or similar role, with demonstrated expertise in technical SEO, content strategy, local SEO, and off-page optimization
• Strong portfolio management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously at scale
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate SEO insights into actionable, client-friendly recommendations
• Experience working in an agency environment with proven ability to navigate ambiguity, take initiative, and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth settings
• Leadership capability with experience mentoring or managing junior team members
• Comfort collaborating cross-functionally with teams across web design, content, paid media, and external vendors
