Senior Webflow Developer
Job Description
About the Company
Bunsen creates brands, websites, decks, and more for companies at the forefront of biopharma, aerospace, manufacturing, and other frontier industries. Their mission is to help scientists and engineers translate technical breakthroughs into powerful stories that connect with their most important audiences.
About the Role
Bunsen is seeking a Senior Webflow Developer to collaborate with their Design Leads, Creative Director, and broader team to turn ambitious concepts into polished, performant Webflow sites. This is a remote-first role requiring approximately five hours of overlap with Eastern Time, with an initial commitment of 3–4 weeks at approximately 35 hours per week. If you're an experienced front-end developer with deep expertise in advanced Webflow development, custom interactions, and technical leadership, this could be the perfect opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects across frontier industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead Webflow builds from scoping through launch, translating Figma designs into responsive, production-ready websites with high visual fidelity
- Develop and execute QA processes for your own builds and those of freelance developers, ensuring staging sites are fully functional, responsive, and performant
- Build custom components, interactions, transitions, and animations using GSAP, Rive, Lottie, or custom JavaScript to create distinctive, performant user experiences
- Implement technical solutions using custom CSS, JavaScript, third-party APIs, and integrations when native Webflow capabilities aren't sufficient
- Review work from freelance developers, establish development best practices, and troubleshoot complex technical issues to maintain quality standards
- Collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders, providing technical guidance and proactive solutions throughout projects
- Lead build handoffs and create walkthroughs to enable clients to manage their websites autonomously
- Stay current with the latest web technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for how Bunsen can remain ahead of the curve
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of front-end development experience with a portfolio of polished, live websites
- Extensive experience building highly interactive or animation-heavy Webflow sites
- Proficiency with advanced web animation workflows including GSAP, Rive, Lottie, custom JavaScript, WebGL, or Three.js
- Experience developing reusable Webflow systems, components, and scalable CMS architectures
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, analytics platforms, marketing tools, or custom applications into Webflow
- Experience providing technical direction or reviewing work from other developers
- Knowledge of SEO optimization and web accessibility best practices
- Proficiency working with teams in Figma
Benefits & Perks
- Long-term relationship for ongoing contract work with potential to transition into a full-time position after successfully delivering two to three projects
- Remote-first arrangement with flexible scheduling (requiring approximately five hours of overlap with Eastern Time; meetings typically 12–5 p.m. ET)
- Competitive fixed project fees for clearly defined engagements and hourly rates for less-defined or one-off development work
