About the Role

Straight North is seeking a talented and experienced Web Designer to join their dynamic team in Downers Grove, IL. This flexible remote/office position requires one day in the office per week and is perfect for a mid-to-senior level designer who excels at creating visually compelling, user-focused website designs. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, copywriters, developers, and clients to transform business objectives into engaging digital experiences that drive results, with a focus on conversion optimization and responsive design across all devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity designs in Figma for new website projects and website support requests that balance aesthetics, usability, and conversion-focused objectives
• Design responsive user interfaces that provide seamless experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
• Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of approved designs and maintain design consistency throughout the development process
• Work closely with copywriters and project managers to align content, messaging, and visual design with client goals
• Present design concepts and rationale to internal teams and clients, incorporating feedback effectively
• Maintain and evolve design systems, style guides, and reusable UI components to improve efficiency and consistency
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure projects meet established standards before launch
• Stay current on emerging web design trends, accessibility standards, UX principles, and responsive design best practices

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience as a Web Designer in a digital marketing agency, web development agency, or similar fast-paced environment
• Strong proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, auto layout, prototyping, and collaborative workflows
• Strong portfolio showcasing responsive website designs across a variety of industries and project types
• Deep understanding of responsive web design principles, mobile-first design methodologies, and cross-device user experience best practices
• Solid understanding of UX/UI design principles, information architecture, and user-centered design processes
• Understanding of website conversion optimization and how design impacts lead generation and user engagement
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
• Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
