About the Role

As SEO Manager for HVAC at Blacksmith Agency, you'll own search strategy for a portfolio of multi-location HVAC and home service clients. This is a dedicated SEO role—no split focus with paid media—where you'll be the strategic voice, making calls on technical roadmaps, content priorities, and ranking performance. You'll work remotely from Canada, South Africa, or the USA, leading both traditional SEO and emerging AI search opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical SEO including crawl analysis, indexation, site speed, schema markup, and site architecture for HVAC client accounts
• Develop keyword strategy and on-page optimization priorities, directing writers and AI-generated content drafts
• Optimize client visibility in AI search platforms including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity alongside classic organic results
• Execute link-building, local SEO, and multi-location SEO strategies where clients require it
• Report on performance using GA4 and Google Search Console, and develop quarterly roadmaps for each client
• Present ranking changes and strategic recommendations to clients on live calls

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience including conducting audits and implementing fixes yourself
• Fluency with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, and either Ahrefs or Semrush
• Proven agency experience managing multiple clients simultaneously
• Clear, fluent English for direct communication with US-based clients on live calls
• Full-time availability for a mid-senior level position
