About the Role

Workshop Digital is seeking an SEO Manager to join their team in Richmond, VA on a hybrid basis. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy, requiring someone who can develop SEO strategies that drive strong organic marketing performance while building and maintaining deep client relationships. The ideal candidate will be an experienced digital marketing professional who can troubleshoot complex client issues, implement new capabilities, and regularly push the team forward through innovation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop SEO strategies and tactics that support client goals and drive strong organic marketing performance
• Build and maintain strong client relationships with day-to-day contacts and senior stakeholders to ensure high retention and growth
• Troubleshoot minor to complicated client issues independently and complex issues with support
• Optimize client websites using a holistic search approach by developing and executing local, technical, and content strategies
• Create and present insightful, accurate reports and analysis to clients and stakeholders
• Identify new opportunities for clients to meet their business goals and manage potential case studies
• Conduct comprehensive technical, content, and local SEO audits
• Use AI and machine learning features to identify trends and anomalies in organic performance
• Develop original training content and conduct team trainings to expand team expertise
• Aid in training new hires on basic and standard SEO and GEO concepts
• Identify opportunities to integrate AI into existing SEO workflows to improve efficiency
• Stay current on relevant tactics, updates, and best practices through industry research
• Support the sales team with RFPs, presentations, audits, and SOWs

Requirements

• Proven experience as an SEO professional with demonstrated expertise in developing and executing SEO strategies
• Strong client communication skills with the ability to build and maintain deep relationships with various stakeholders
• Ability to troubleshoot complex SEO issues independently or with minimal support
• Proficiency with SEO tools, Google Analytics, and machine learning capabilities within analytics platforms
• Knowledge of technical, content, and local SEO best practices
• Experience with AI tools and familiarity with optimizing for AI-generated search experiences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present analysis and insights to various audiences

• Experience mentoring junior team members
• Thought leadership or content contribution experience within the SEO or digital marketing industry
• Experience managing beta tests of new services
• Familiarity with GEO (local SEO) strategies
