About the Role

Western Market is hiring a Prepared Foods Cook to join their culinary team in Bloomfield, MI. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced retail kitchen environment where you'll prepare daily menu items and catering orders with an emphasis on quality, consistency, and food safety. Responsibilities

• Prepare all Prepared Foods menu items according to provided recipes, production schedules, and quantities
• Receive and execute catering orders in a timely manner
• Display, cover, date, and rotate all cooked items according to safe food handling guidelines
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production area and properly sanitize all equipment and work surfaces
• Store and properly handle raw foods and non-food supplies following all safe food handling guidelines
• Operate kitchen equipment safely, including broasters, deep fryers, rotisserie ovens, convection ovens, flat top grills, and more
• Provide superior customer service and answer department phone calls as needed
• Attend department meetings and assist other team members in Prepared Foods, Deli, and Bakery departments as instructed

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with intermediate language proficiency
• Strong customer service abilities and a positive attitude
• Experience as a contributing and effective team member with ability to take direction and follow instructions
• Excellent work ethic with emphasis on efficiency, precision, and ability to switch tasks effectively
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and 80 lbs occasionally
• Physical ability to work in a fast-paced retail kitchen environment involving long intervals of standing, crouching, and reaching; tolerance for extreme cold and heat exposure
• Basic mathematical skills and competency with POS systems and scales
