About the Role

Florida Polytechnic University is seeking an exceptional Web Designer and Developer to join the Strategic Communications team in Lakeland, FL. This position serves as the primary designer and developer for the University's web presence, leading the design, development, maintenance, and optimization of websites and digital platforms. You'll combine strong front-end web design and user experience expertise with hands-on development capabilities using WordPress and Elementor, while also providing back-end technical support. Responsibilities

• Serve as the University's primary web designer and developer, responsible for the design, development, maintenance, optimization, and ongoing enhancement of University websites and digital platforms
• Design and develop responsive, accessible, user-friendly webpages, landing pages, templates, navigation, and interactive experiences using WordPress and Elementor while maintaining University brand standards
• Act as project manager for web initiatives, collaborating with departments to develop new webpages and website sections, coordinate content and technical needs, and implement effective web solutions
• Manage website content, WordPress administration, user roles and permissions, content workflows, and provide training and support for campus content contributors
• Provide back-end development and technical support, including custom functionality, plugins, forms, APIs, third-party integrations, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Optimize the website for user experience, accessibility, SEO, mobile responsiveness, performance, and search visibility using analytics and user behavior data to guide improvements
• Incorporate AI and emerging technologies into web design, development, optimization, and maintenance to improve efficiency, functionality, and the overall digital experience
• Work closely with Information Technology to support hosting environments, security, system reliability, and other technical infrastructure needs

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in front-end web design and development with WordPress and Elementor
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP for back-end development and custom functionality
• Strong understanding of responsive web design, accessibility standards, SEO best practices, and web performance optimization
• Experience managing WordPress sites, including user roles, permissions, plugin management, and content workflows
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple web projects simultaneously
• Portfolio demonstrating responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web design and development work
