MSRcosmos is seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to lead technical strategy and development for their portfolio of internal and business division websites based in Irvine, California.

About the Role

As a WordPress Developer at MSRcosmos, you'll take ownership of the technical direction and day-to-day feature development across a suite of websites in this onsite contract position. You'll oversee system security and stability while architecting custom WordPress solutions tailored to evolving business needs. This role is perfect for a developer who combines deep WordPress expertise with strong frontend design sensibility and can translate complex business requirements into elegant, performant solutions.

Responsibilities

• Translate Figma design mock-ups into fully responsive, performant, and cross-browser compatible WordPress builds while applying UX design principles
• Architect custom WordPress-based features, plugins, and Gutenberg block enhancements to meet complex business requirements
• Audit existing sites for compliance with modern best practices including web performance, SEO, accessibility, legal standards, and security protocols
• Conduct structured code reviews for ongoing projects and manage code deployment using Git and Bitbucket
• Partner with product managers to identify UX improvements and cost reduction opportunities
• Evaluate third-party vendor proposals, themes, and plugins to advise stakeholders on technical viability
• Provide accurate scope estimates for bugs and custom features while reviewing external estimates for technical accuracy
• Maintain clean, clear documentation for all internal applications, custom block frameworks, and system architecture

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional web development experience with a proven track record as a WordPress Architect or Lead Developer
• Advanced proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript, and MySQL
• Expert-level knowledge of modern WordPress architecture including Gutenberg, custom block development, React-based custom theme and plugin development, REST API, and hooks/filters
• Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket version control workflows
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with WP Engine hosting environment
